This picture is an older work made in 2006 at the swimming pool of Opatija's Hotel Admiral. The stripes were shadows cast onto convex design pool side furniture, I think a stool. This location is always fascinating and I always see tourists cameras aimed toward the location of this pool with it's oddly shaped furniture, I think in some 70's style. I made an interesting experimemental color arrangement of the view of the pool in the photograph Pool Side at Hotel Admiral in 2007.

When I first saw the series I made containing Stripes back in 2006 I didn't know what to do with it as I was in a transition toward a new style. I was proud of the way they looked and the capture of a seemingly uncapturable. I saw others taking pictures that day and I had a feeling that what they really wanted I had to climb over the rail, tresspassing basically, to get. But in 2006 I was neccessarily eschewing black and white photography as a personal anathema (having been somewhat blindly immersed in it for nearly a decade) and so these photos sat until I finally edited them just recently after a gestation period allowed me to come to terms with the validity of some of my older work.
