I don't remember ever having seen a Yellow Mimosa Tree before coming to live in Opatija, Croatia on the north Adriatic Sea. Changing my location from the gray Pacific Northwest in the United States to such a colorful climate was a major factor in triggering a switch to give up black and white photography and start working with color.

The experimental photography work Yellow Mimosa is one of the prime examples of how I see color and the psychic impact it has on me. It is not incidental but primary. Because it is I feel free to take it as it is given and rework it until it suits my psychical needs smearing it all over saturating the film canvas.

Yellow Mimosa has companions in time and in theme which are also great saturated color works found in the contemporary art photography Red Tree, the Yellow Flowers, Pink Flowers and the re-discovered earlier work White Grill Fence.
