The floral arrangement Yellow Flowers was made in the late fall early winter of 2005-06 in Opatija, Croatia and were among the first of my attempts to work in color, beginning also with the blurred portraits The Red Tree and Hanging Laundry.
These pictures were made in preparation for a gloomy winter, as a sort of saved up salvation. But I didn't want straight documentation of some fleeting moments but immortalized works which continue to live on their own banishing all pathos (it was the winter) and so I turned to injecting the colors and the shapes I found with documentation of communication. Listening to the buzz of each work I found a way to simulate it through soft focus to blatant blurring. The camera lens became my instrument for brush strokes. Thus the start of my own truly avant-garde offerings had its origins here.
Yellow Flowers were one of my favorite pieces throughout the period, and are still now, as they continue to live and grow.
