In the contemporary art photography floral and flowers genre the Red Tulips on Paper Series is my best and proudest offering. Queer as they are and stubbornly nun-uniteable they have energy! I have tried to revisit the theme of flowers and floral arrangements since these few works but I realize that the strength needed to have made these in the first place is just lacking in my currently overworked constitution.

I have always liked flowers and have been arranging them since before I knew that it wasn't quite "cool" for a boy to be doing it. After ditching the sobriety and monastic allegiance to exclusive black and white picture making (I do still partake) I turned back to the purest colors on the planet for inspiration and guidance.

The Tulips Series along with the Garden Shadows Series, Red Roses Series, and later the unfinished series comprising Pink Flowers on Paper and Pink Flower with Green Leaves on Paper were made at roughly the same time in the spring of 2006.
