The Garden Shadows Series dates from early 2006, Opatija, Croatia in my front garden.
The originals of this series are in color and have a gracefully green tone.
This black and white series were the first step toward the final colr edit which is still in progress
The north wind was blowing on a clear blue skied day and I was chasing the shadows of the palm fronds as they moved across the notebook I was holding at arms length beneath them with one hand, while holding the camera, a very heavy antique Zenit B in the other hand. It was a tricky operation to see what I wanted and snap the shutter before the whole tree moved again a few whole feet to either side. What resulted are the most successful of the attempts being Palms Shadows No.1 above and Palms Shadows No.2. before I moved on to make a like series of shots of a patio chair and finally moving indoors of lace curtains both also being included in this series.
