I was moved by the simple, life affirming gesture of the courageous enough to hang the washed work.. in the face of just previous and certainly still coming wintery adversity of 2005/06.

Beside the elements of pure blue sky and the luminance of the lace curtains blowing in the wind, this work was completed if not dominated by the pure colors of the clothespins_ which impressed me so much that I later did homage to them them in the pictures Clothespins and Shadow of Cat with Chair and Clothespin.

Hanging Laundry was also one of the first of the blurred works I've made, in celebration of abstracted blocks of color.

Its companions in time are Red Tree, Yellow Flowers, Pink Flowers and an earlier work named White Grill Fence
