The fine art contemporary photography Pink Flowers on Paper was made as a continuing train of thought which started with earlier works in the Garden Shadows Series and Tulip on Paper Series which also employed white paper backgrounds to contrast the vivid colors of the subjects as well as highlight their unique shadow play.

In this particular floral arrangement I had to make the paper background more manageable by ripping a sheet into small triangular sections so that they could be inserted into the dense foliage of the flowers. This added the dimension of multiple diagonal lines of shadows which I wanted to create a more dynamic design contrasting nature against.

In all the works I was experimenting with focus and so here you can see that the flowers are blurred to emphasize the general shape and above all blocks of pure color.

I made these compositions with more and less success in my garden in Opatija, Croatia in the spring of 2006.
