The color contemporary art photography Abstract Boat and Mast is part of a three picture series I united by the theme donated to them by the purity of the day's blue sky.

The three also have in common the aspect of more or less abstract compositions and they are all united by the use of white painted metal, initially inspired by the revisitation of Icici's White Fence which was the subject of one of my first successful color photography compositions in late 2005.

The white fence surrounds a large marina where I found a wrapped up dry docked yacht looking quite like one of Marcel Duchamp's early ready mades. I don't think I've ever seen a wrapped up boat which interested me. And then what a unique shape!

The three works of the Blue series are actually from about a dozen "blue" pictures though most of those are being edited for a more conclusive White Fence series being different arrangements of.. the white fence.

The Blue Series is finally connected by the time frame that the three pictures were made which was during the course of a couple of hours between two rolls of film. Rarely am I surprised by the continuity of my own picture making as I was on this particular day.
